Position description
UC Merced Extension anticipates hiring part-time instructor
positions to teach the following courses in Spanish for AY 2023-24.
Course(s) being offered may include but not limited to:
-Elementary Spanish I
Teaching responsibilities include instructional delivery for high
school dual enrollment sections. Sections may include up to 35 high
school juniors and/or seniors per section. Sections may be
delivered in a taught face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online format.
This appointment is within UC Merced Extension with a dotted line
to the World Languages Program in the School of Social Sciences,
Humanities, and Arts (SSHA).
In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is
responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (2
hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers.

Fall Term: 8/1/2023 - 12/31/2023
Spring Term: 1/1/2024 - 5/31/2024
Summer Term: 6/1/2024 - 7/31/2024
UC Merced Extension anticipates hiring multiple part-time
instructors for the courses listed above throughout the academic
year based on the course sections scheduled and/or planned.
UC Merced graduate students, post-doccs, and other academic
appointees affiliated with the UC Merced World Languages (Spanish)
program will be given priority for initial sections.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications
Advanced degree in Spanish language or Literature or related area
and experience teaching at the college or university level are
required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in
teaching (required).
Preferred qualifications
Experience teaching at the high school level (preferred).
