Job Description Job Description Description: The Diet Technician
at LGTC's Eating Disorder Residential, supports adolescent clients
through their daily activities and the dietary component of the
program under the direction and supervision of Registered
Dietitians. Some of the typical duties on shift include cleaning
and sanitizing, managing kitchen stock and safety, grocery
shopping, tracking dietary budgets, preparing meals for clients,
consuming meals alongside our clients to offer support in the
moment, and communicating observations with our treatment team.
This is a full-time, 40-hour position, with the schedule of 10:00am
to 6:30pm. The ability to work either Saturday or Sunday is
required. Responsibilities Purchasing all grocery items for
facility, considering variety, special diets, and food safety
Maintaining an organized, well-stocked kitchen Cleaning and
sanitizing dishes and kitchen areas and assisting the Dietitians in
upholding proper sanitation requirements Analyzing food service
providers to ensure quality products at cost effective prices
Monitoring client consumption of appropriate meals and providing
supplementation for incomplete meals Cooking and baking with
clients as therapeutically recommended by the Dietitians Following
LGTC's dietary program and supporting goals set by the Dietitians
Assisting in education for other staff onsite to ensure food safety
and proper portioning of meals as needed All other responsibilities
as assigned by the Lead Dietitian and Program Director
Qualifications Bachelors in Nutrition or related field Knowledge of
nutrition and dietary interventions in the mental health field
Experience in dietary education Ability to communicate with persons
from all educational and cultural backgrounds Have strong written
and verbal communication skills Must demonstrate initiative,
resourcefulness, a professional manner, enthusiasm, and a
non-judgmental attitude Ability to work independently and on a team
with those who do not have a background in nutrition Ability to
demonstrate understanding of the medical consequences of eating
disorders, the hazards of re-feeding and how to avoid complications
Ability to follow instructions provided by the Dietitians for
implementing individualized menu plans for different types of
eating disorders Ability to communicate effectively to all staff in
implementing the dietary programs Must have the ability to provide
documentation or obtain a state-required food handlers permit, or
Serve Safe Certification, upon hire Desired Qualifications:
Background in residential treatment centers Spanish proficiency
Experience in the mental health field or working with individuals
with different mental health disorders Knowledge of eating
