Job Description:
OverviewMetabolon is seeking a highly strategic and motivated
individual to prospect, drive, and close opportunities in the
following key markets: biopharma, consumer products, agriculture,
animal health and nutrition, wellness, and academic and government
research. This business development role will further position
Metabolon as the leading provider of metabolomics services for all
research and commercial applications in the assigned territory.Open
to candidates currently located in, or willing to relocate to, the
San Francisco Bay area.Responsibilities
- Meet quarterly and annual bookings targets through strategic
territory planning, exhibition of sales drivers, and a high level
of prospecting.
- Identify customer and market needs, advocating Metabolon's
technology to develop a broader awareness, understanding, and
collaboration potential within each account.
- Develop and execute clear strategic plan to pursue and close
business to meet revenue goals.
- Proactively build revenue pipeline through independent
prospecting and lead generation.
- Build relationships with key opinion leaders and champions to
position Metabolon as the preferred technology for
metabolomics-based biological
- Form and maintain strong customer relationships to build
pipeline for new and repeat business.
- Work effectively with sales leadership and internal resources
to outline strategic opportunities and markets and mobilize
resources in support of customer
- Prepare and effectively present business presentations.
- Utilize strategic selling methods to dig beneath the surface to
identify and address the core needs of the customer.
- Routinely provide an accurate sales forecast that is directly
tied to sales metrics around prospecting, funnel management, and
accountability of CRM (Salesforce.com) input data.
- Work with internal resources for effective study design and
timely sample receipt for projects.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field required. A
Master's or PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related
science and/or a MBA is
- 3-5+ years business development experience in the life sciences
services space with a proven track record. Experience in the 'omics
space or laboratory experience in a metabolomics core lab is
highly
- Demonstrated strategic selling proficiency. Completion of
professional sales training in Miller Heiman, Challenger Sales, or
Strategic Selling
- Demonstrated strong prospecting skills in finding and
developing own
- Experience in leading and completing commercial contracts and
sales negotiations with universities, research institutes and/or
commercial
- Excellent written and oral communication and compelling
presentation skills required. Must be able to understand and
present on Metabolon's technology advantages and
- Experience working with cross-functional teams both internally
and externally to manage and implement complex
- Demonstrated ability to lead sales situations within
complex
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to synthesize data into
insightful
- Attention to detail, strong time management skills, superior
work ethic, and a self-starter capable of working Entrepreneurial
by nature, self-sufficient and a great team player.
- Proven ability to own and manage multiple key accounts and meet
quarterly sales quota
- Proficiency with CRM, preferably Salesforce.com, and Microsoft
Office Suite software.
